The Hawk and RPM Auto Sales in Bayville are proud to bring you the chance to score a beautiful 1983 Trans-Am, all wrapped up in Hawk colors!

It's simple to get in on the drawing for this cool Classic Rock Ride!

Just be listening every morning to Free Beer & Hot Wings to find out what the "Classic Cassette" of the day is, and when you hear a song off that classic cassette on either my show or Andy's show, be caller 105 at 877-HAWK-105-7 to qualify to win the Classic Rock Ride!

Today's Classic Cassette is Van Halen's sixth studio album, '1984'.

The album remains Van Halen's most successful in terms of sales, with 10 million copies shipped in the United States,

1984 reached number two on the Billboard 200 album chart and remained there for five weeks, behind Michael Jackson's Thriller, (on which Eddie Van Halen played guitar, as well, of course).

1984 was the last, full-length Van Halen album to feature David Lee Roth until 2012's A Different Kind of Truth and the final full-length album with all four original members.

My memory takes me back to when I was living in northwestern Connecticut and when I heard "Jump" for the first time, I was utterly blown away. The force of that song was simply stunning, with not only Eddie's solo guitar antics, but with that synthesizer, which ushered in a new direction to Van Halen songwriting.

That particular song off the album was released in December 1983 as the lead single from the album and it's is the only single the group released in their career to reach number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

The solo guitar part is one Eddie claims is his favorite solo he never wrote (the producer spliced parts of two different takes to create the one heard in the song).

As guitarworld.com notes:

Ed proved that he could play keyboards every bit as well as he could play guitar, but even more importantly he also showed the world that he could craft a pop song that was as good as, if not better than, anything else out there at the time.

If 'Jump' or any of the other songs from this amazing cassette get airplay on the Hawk today, make sure you call us, and if you're caller 105 you'll have a shot at the Classic Rock Ride!
