Introducing Ava.

She's friendly, but phony. She's knowledgeable, but has no depth. She's pretty, but it's all on the surface.

And she's coming to an airport near you.

Her creators named her "Ava" (Airport Virtual Assistant), and she's the new face of airport customer service.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will soon be installing North America's very first airport customer service representative that's made of plexiglass (and the videotape of a real-life spokesperson) this July.

She's a sort of hologram and she's going to be greeting you in that creepy, living dead way in terminals at Newark Liberty, LaGuardia and JFK airports.

Was this necessary to prevent weary air tavelers from punching out living, breathing airport workers?

Probably.

Seriously, what do you think?  Creepy?  Fascinating? No big deal?  Strangely provocative?

For the people who answered yes to the last question, please stop there.

Otherwise, I'd welcome your thoughts on Ava in the comment section below!
