A Wayne man has had his day in court and will now spend the next 10-years (120-months) in prison for gathering child porn images and videos on his computer.

U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced the sentence on Monday of Robert Klemt, 35, who had previously pleaded guilty in Newark federal court to an Information charging him with one count of possessing child pornography.

Klemt's nefarious hobby came came to the attention of the Department of Homeland Security, who subsequently approached him at his home in June of 2020, after they learned he was using a website that had child sexual abuse images on it.

Then, law enforcement took a look at what was on Klemt's laptop and saw more than 70 child porn images and videos.

This was not his first time committing this offense as he was convicted in Essex County in 2014 for endangering the welfare of a child/distribution of child pornography.

With a prior on his record, he has been sentenced to 120-months in prison for his latest offense and must also then serve 10-years of supervised release, and register as a sex offender.
