Upgrades at Waretown's water treatment plant prompt officials to set use restrictions in place beginning Tuesday, May 17, until they're completed - estimated to be the end of June.

Ocean Township Police issued a Nixel alert today, with a list of voluntary conservation measures listed in a township ordinance, which include:

  • Lawn watering on odd-numbered days for odd-numbered addresses, and on even-numbered days for even-numbered buildings and homes
  • Lawn watering between 6 and 9 AM and 5 and 8 PM only, with no more than 30 minutes per day for any one area
  • Watering flowers and shrubs as needed, with hand-held hoses equipped with automatic shut-off nozzles
  • No time restrictions for car washing, but only with hand-held hoses equipped with automatic shut-off nozzles
  • Voluntary indoor conservation measures
  • A ban on washing streets, driveways, sidewalks, decks, patios and paved areas
  • A ban on washing the exteriors of homes, buildings and other structures, except windows
  • A ban on water for outdoor recreational uses
  • A ban on any other water uses specified in the township's resolution of restrictions.
