The Top 10 Porn Stars From New Jersey
Let's take a look at the porn history of Jersey.
(Before anyone nitpicks, we're playing fast and loose (no pun intended) with the definition of being "from" New Jersey - some were born here, some grew up here, some just went to high school here)
Asia Carrera - Born in NYC, but grew up in Little Silver, going to Red Bank Regional High School. Attended Rutgers University on a full academic scholarship, majoring in Japanese and business. Carrera is a member of Mensa, with an IQ of 156. She appeared in over 400 films, and was the first Asian performer ever to win the award AVN Female Performer of the Year Award. Last but certainly not least, she had an uncredited cameo in The Big Lebowski, featured in the faux-porn "Logjammin' ".
Tammy Lynn Sytch - Sunny was a very important part of my young WWF fandom. Back then, she turned down Playboy, but apparently just released a film with Vivid.
Scott Schwartz - The kid who got his tongue stuck to a flagpole in "A Christmas Story" used his tongue in other ways in his second career as an adult actor. Schwartz attended Bridgewater Raritan High School West in Bridgewater, NJ.
Carol Connors - Did you that Thora Birch's mother was a porn star? I had NO IDEA.
Tommy Gunn - From Cherry Hill, Gunn has over 1200 credits to his name.
Lexington Steele - The first three-time AVN Male Performer of the Year, Lex was born in NJ and went to Morristown High School.
Taryn Thomas - This Bloomfield native played Snooki in the Jersey Shore porn parody - how much more Jersey can you get?
Joanna Angel - Born in Brooklyn, but raised in River Edge in Bergen County. After graduating from Rutgers, she founded the 'alt-porn' website Burning Angel.
Carter Stevens - A pioneer in the industry, he did it all; actor, director, lab tech, grip, and gaffer.
Sharon Mitchell - After retiring from the industry, Mitchell went on to found the Adult Industry Medical Health Care Foundation, an organization which provided information and STD testing to workers in adult entertainment. A privacy breach led to AIM's closure in 2011.
BONUS ENTRY - I feel bad naming names, but I definitely attended high school with a girl who appeared in an amateur porn scene. A friend of mine sent me a picture asking if I recognized a girl, and my answer was simply "well, I don't recall seeing her in that position, so I'm not sure"...from a different angle, it became clear that, yeah, I knew her. It was weird, because she wasn't necessarily someone I would have considered a friend, but rather someone I just sort of knew peripherally. I was actually a better friend to her brother, but I obviously never brought it up to him.
