'Responsible gun ownership' or 'asburd'? A sharp divide on the latest gun package in Monday hearings before two Assembly panels.

It could be months before pot shops are allowed to open up as the new Marijuana Law is rolled out in the Garden State, so while it is now legal, there is nowhere to currently legally buy recreational weed in New Jersey.

While many municipalities in the Garden State have tackled the issue on their own, a proposed law introduced recently would implement a statewide ban on the intentional release of balloons into the sky.

A bill that would strengthen protection for emergency workers including police officers from being hit by people ignoring the "Move Over Law" was signed into law on Monday by Governor Phil Murphy.

Starting early next year, employers in New Jersey can no longer ask prospective workers about their salary history.

The 65-5 vote, with six abstentions, pushes the bill one step from Gov. Phil Murphy's desk. Senate approval is expected next week.

New Jersey birth certificates now allow people to document a biological sex outside of the historical male/female system. Other state forms might follow suit.
