Just because they're the kings of thrash metal doesn't mean the boys in Slayer aren't animal lovers.

Before the Slayer had a show in Indianapolis on Thursday night (Dec 4), the band's softer side came out when they rescued a kitten.

According to Nuvo.net, the band's publicist recounts the feline's rescue: “Last night Kerry [King] and some of the crew went to dinner at Kerry’s favorite steak house in Indy, St. Elmo’s Steak House. Afterwards, the assistant tour manager, Jess [Cortese] saw a homeless man on the street who offered up this little kitten for a dollar. The kitten apparently was freezing so Jess took it, slept with her in her bunk on the bus and went to the venue with her today, hanging out. One of the runners knew someone who wanted a kitten, so the little guy now has a new home where he or she currently is.”

The Old National Center posted the photo of the cute rescued kitten to their Facebook page. The new owner of the feline saw the post and responded to give everyone an update that the kitten was now in good hands. “I named her Gypsy!” she wrote. “I gave her a bath last night then she slept for five hours on the heating pad. She’s at the vet this morning being treated for fleas and worms.”

Just goes to show that even their fiercest of metalheads cannot resist the cuteness of a lovable pet.  This random act of kindness would be reason number 666 (ok, sorry couldn't resist!)  of why SLAYER!!!! is still one of the most amazing bands in metal.
