Class A North

Manalapan 71, Long Branch 42

Senior Mike Bimonte scored a game-high 23 points and the Braves (3-3, 1-2) coasted to a win over the Green Wave (1-6, 0-2). Bimonte also added three steals and senior Gabe Blackwell put up eight rebounds and five blocks to go with five points.

No. 3 CBA 66, No. 1 Marlboro 60 (OT)

Senior Pat Lautato scored eight of his game-high 24 points in overtime and also added eight rebounds and six assists as the Colts (6-0, 2-0) knocked off the No. 1 Mustangs (6-1, 1-1) in a Class A North overtime classic.

Junior Will Bradley added 13 points and junior Joe White chipped in 12 points, six rebounds and three assists while matching up with Marlboro point guard Jon Spatola. Lautato also drew a big defensive assignment in shadowing Marlboro top scorer Jack Seidler.

Both Seidler and Spatola scored under their season averages, Seidler scoring 14 points to go with his seven rebounds and three steals and Spatola netting 11 points to go with three assists.

Senior Vin Spatola led Marlboro with 17 points and five steals and senior Jay Ratner put up 15 points, 11 rebounds and three assists for the Mustangs, who played without senior starter Zach Molod (illness).

 

Class A Central

No. 2 Red Bank Catholic 83, Matawan 28

Sophomores Zach Meeks and Colin Cavanaugh each scored 15 points and the Caseys (6-1, 2-0) cruised to a win over the Huskies (0-6, 0-2). Sophomore Tyler Burnham added 11 points and freshman Ryan Prior hit three three-pointers for nine points for Red Bank Catholic.

 

Class A South

Central 60, Toms River North 54

Senior Justin Soranno did it all for Central, putting up 19 points, 18 rebounds, four assists, three blocks and seven steals to carry the Golden Eagles (4-2, 1-1) over the Mariners (2-3, 0-1), officially ending Toms River North's 74-game winning streak in Class A South divisional play that dated back to Feb. 2015.

Sophomore Miles Chevalier chipped in 16 points, senior Anthony Musso pitched in 12 points and six rebounds and junior John Truhan added nine points for Central.

Senior Lamir Mitchell led Toms River North with 14 points, while senior Ryan Baker scored 11 and junior Delani Hyde went for 10 in the loss.

 

Class B Central

Keyport 82, Asbury Park 52

Senior D.J. Thomson pumped in 34 points to go with five rebounds, four assists and four steals as the Red Raiders (3-0, 3-0) rolled to a win over the Blue Bishops (0-2, 0-2).

Senior Chris Mitchell added 23 points while grabbing six rebounds and dishing out four assists for Keyport, while junior Max Judson contributed seven points and 11 rebounds in the win.

Junior Davon Foster led Asbury Park with 25 points.

 

Class B South

Lacey 80, Brick 66

Juniors Chris Venturoso and Troy Buxton combined for 46 points and classmate Dylan Hall filled up the stat sheet as the Lions (4-3, 1-1) beat the Green Dragons (3-3, 0-2) for their third straight win.

Venturoso scored a game-high 25 points to go with six rebounds while Buxton poured in 21. Hall, meanwhile, pitched in 12 points, six rebounds, seven assists and six steals for Lacey.

Junior Alex Jenkoski led Brick with 23 points and senior teammate Rob Giovine chipped in 18 points.

 

Class C North

Point Boro 60, Wall 30

Senior Matt Lee poured in 17 points to help lead the Panthers (5-0, 1-0) past the Crimson Knights (0-5, 0-2) for their fifth straight win to open the season.

Junior Stephen Mellett added 11 points and senior Dan Coughlan added 10 for Point Boro.

 

Non-Division

Holmdel 67, Freehold Twp. 65

Sophomore Ben Kipnis led four Holmdel underclassmen in double-figures with 21 points and the Hornets (3-3) held off a fourth-quarter push by the Patriots (3-3) to pull out the win at home.

Sophomore Nick Seeloch added 16 points, sophomore James Vallillio poured in 15 and freshman Evan Romano chipped in 11 for Holmdel.

Senior Sean Keegan scored 15 points to lead Freehold Township, which also placed four players in double-figure scoring. Junior Jayden Holmes-Cotter dropped 14 points, junior Malachi Harris pitched in 11 and senior Josh Ibarreta contributed 10 in the loss.

No. 6 St. John Vianney 73, Mater Dei Prep 47

Senior Nate Williams stayed locked in with 29 points, 10 rebounds and six steals to lead the Lancers (7-1) to a win over the Seraphs (1-3).

Junior Jordan Winnik added 13 points, Omar Calderon chipped in 10 and sophomore Dylan Seay contributed eight points and nine rebounds for St. John Vianney.

Middletown North 67, No. 9 Brick Memorial 59

Senior Matt Kenny scored 20 points and five Middletown North players scored at least nine points as the Lions (2-2) upended the Mustangs (2-2) on the road.

Junior Mac Colantonio added 12 points and four assists, Luke Sheehan chipped in 11, senior Tommy Giannone netted 10 and senior Zach Searight contributed nine points and seven rebounds for Middletown North. Giannone also posted six rebounds and five assists.

Junior Josh Michigan led Brick Memorial with a game-high 28 points, with classmate Brian Starrett added 11 and senior Luke Braaten dropping 10 in the loss.

Hopatcong 66, Henry Hudson 44

Junior Jax Ross and freshman Jack Fitzpatrick each scored 12 points, but the Admirals (1-3) could not overcome Japhet Santiago (27 points) and the Chiefs (4-2).
