Ocean County’s Newest Distillery Is Close To Opening

Every March we do our BrewMaster Madness competition, but if more distilleries open up in Ocean County, we might have a new tournament to run!

Garden State Distillery is setting up shop in downtown Toms River, sharing a building with Capone's Italian Restaurant on Washington Street.

In case you're wondering about the difference between a brewery and a distillery, it's pretty simple: breweries only brew beer, while distilleries produce hard liquor. Garden State Distillery says they will open up and feature vodka, gin, whiskey, and (my favorite) rum. It's a somewhat poorly-kept secret that I'm not a big fan of beer, but I do enjoy rum, so I'm stoked to have a place like this open up right in our backyard.

Garden State Distillery doesn't have an official opening date set just yet, but we'll let you know as soon as we find out.
