Bridgeton Man Arrested in 2023 Fatal Shooting

Nearly two years to the day after it happened, a man from Bridgeton has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting in the city.

Charges Filed Against Terry Stocks

The Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office says this past Saturday, August 30th, 29-year-old Terry Stocks was taken into custody and he is facing the following charges:

  • First-degree murder
  • Second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose
  • Second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun
  • Second-degree certain persons not to possess weapons

Details of the Fatal Shooting

According to authorities, on the night of September 3rd, 2023, officers with the Bridgeton Police Department were called to a home on Mount Vernon Street for a report of a shooting.

There, they found 25-year-old Brian Pineda of Bridgeton inside a residence suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

The prosecutor's office says an investigation revealed that a confrontation between Pineda and Stocks occurred in the roadway where the shooting took place. Stocks was eventually identified as the alleged shooter and he was charged on August 22nd.
