The folks at unscramblerer.com have dug into the data to determine the slang words people in New Jersey search Google for the most.

They put out a list of the top 10, and after looking it over, I'll admit that I didn't know many of these terms either.

Here's a list of 5 of the terms that made the list.  See how many you know and then scroll down for the correct meaning.

How many of those terms look familiar?

Have you ever wondered about the origin of terms like these?

Someone had to be the first to use them.

I guess there are some things in life we may never know the answer to.

Ok, let's see how you did in our litter quiz.

Skibidi - This word was number three on the unscramblerer.com list.

According to the site, Skibidi refers to a viral internet trend featuring surreal, animated videos of singing toilets and dancing heads, popularized on platforms like TikTok for its bizarre humor.

Like I said, who comes up with this stuff?

Oeuvre was the sixth most-searched slang term by New Jersey users on Google.

It refers to the complete works produced by an artist, writer, or composer. A word used by literature professors to express superiority.

Preen - Number 9 on the list, Preen is slang for a child who tries to act like a teenager(wears teen clothes or makeup).

Sigma - This is a word that when I saw it, I thought, Ï've seen the word, and I should know what it means.

However, I realized that I had no idea what Sigma meant.

Turns out it refers to an independent, self-reliant person who operates outside traditional social hierarchies, often described as a 'lone wolf.'

The final term on our pop quiz has been in the news a lot lately.

It started with a YouTube video in which drunk people, mainly women, were asked a risque question (you'll have to search that yourself if you haven't seen it.)

One of the women used the term that came in number 8 on the unscramblerer.com list.

Hawk Tuah - Imitative of a spitting sound.  Use your imagination.

A spokesperson for unscramblerer.com said,

The English language is ever changing. Every year new slang words are created. Many slang words are born through trending topics and viral videos on social media. However only few manage to stick around long enough to be added to the dictionary and remain in daily use. Slang words are a normal and fun evolution of language. We encourage everyone to learn some new words and surprise their children by using them.
