🔴 Burglar Robs Manhattan Production Studio
🔴 Thousands of Dollars Worth of Equipment and Computers Taken
🔴 TV Co-Host Helps Track Stolen Goods to New Jersey
A burglar thought he scored big recently when he broke into a Manhattan studio filled with recording equipment and computers.
The thief took off with what was later estimated to be about $30,000 in various equipment used by Television host Dan Abrams.
Dan Abrams owns a production company called, Law & Crime Productions.
It is home to several of his media projects like, Court Cam.
The heist occurred last weekend.
Now, the first thing to know about people like Dan and others in his line of work, is that they are all tech nerds to a degree.
They like to have the latest gadgets.
So, of course, he had surveillance cameras and those cameras got great shots of the perp.
And those laptops the crook took?
They were all equipped with tracking software.
This is where Tom Rizzo, a Howell cop, and co-host of Dan's wildly popular television series, On Patrol: Live, jumped into action.
He analyzed the tracking information and traced the laptops to a pawn shop in Keyport, New Jersey in Monmouth County.
After consulting with the NYPD, the decision was made to move in.
The cops arrived at the pawnshop and questioned the owner.
Turns out the pawnshop rejected the goods the guy brought in, but, he was still behind the building.
When cops approached, they found the guy and all the equipment he swiped.
Not only that, in addition to the equipment, the guy also took a bunch of swag, including hats with Dan's logo.
It's a pretty good bet this caper will be featured on On Patrol Live's Triple Play feature this weekend on Reelz and Peacock.
