Ebenezer Tucker was born at Tucker's Beach, which was at that time part of Burlington County (Little Egg Harbor would be annexed to Ocean County in 1891).

According to Wikipedia, Ebenezer Tucker would grow up and as a young, he served under George Washington in the American Revolution. Tucker would see action at the Battle of Long Island and other engagements. Tucker would go on to serve as a judge in New Jersey, after the war, from 1820 to 1825.

Ebenezer Tucker then moved to what is the town of Tuckerton, New Jersey, the town which was named for him. "Tuckerton" was named in honor of Ebenezer Tucker. Besides serving as a judge in New Jersey, Tucker was a businessman and shipbuilder. Tucker served as Postmaster in Tuckerton from 1806 to 1825. In 1825 Tucker would be elected to the U.S. Congress. Ebenezer Tucker "was in the United States House of Representatives from New Jersey where he was elected to both the Nineteenth and the Twentieth United States Congress. He was in Congress from March 4, 1825, to March 3, 1829."

Following Tucker's time in the U.S. House of Representatives, he returned to Tuckerton and resumed his position of Postmaster from 1831 until his death in 1845 at the age of 87. As you can see Tucker had a big part in early America.

Tucker's final resting place is located on Route 539 in Tuckerton at the Old Methodist Cemetary.
