All pasta is great, but if you have trouble choosing a pasta type for your Italian food meals, this might be just what you need.

New Jersey Pasta Guide

Have you ever been to a restaurant and the server gives you a choice of pasta, and you have the hardest time choosing?

You are not alone. I thought it would be fun to put together a guide to choosing the right pasta for the right situation in New Jersey.

I do not consider myself a pasta, food, or etiquette expert, but I have eaten enough pasta in the Garden State to feel like I can help you.

The Best Pasta Choices For New Jersey

Here's a list of different pastas and the best time to choose them, in my opinion.

Spaghetti - this is the perfect "at-home" pasta. It's not for first dates, since it will inevitably splash and spray onto your shirt and table. Have it at home with meatballs.

Linguini - There are only two times I order linguine. They are with seafood or with Alfredo sauce (sorry, fettuccini).

Penne - Penne is the go-to pasta for first dates and special occasions. Safe to eat and easy to manage.

Cannelloni - For some reason, I just don't trust cannelloni. Is it manicotta gone rogue? Is it spaghetti with a bloating issue? It's not for me.

Gnocchi - As much as I love it, I never order it because after years of pasta eating, I still don't know how to pronounce it.
