Shore 51, Donovan Catholic 46 (OT)
Junior Alex George scored 18 points, including a 6-for-6 performance from the free-throw line during overtime, and the Blue Devils spoiled the Griffins' bid for a share of the Class C South championship. With Donovan Catholic's loss, Ocean claims the outright division title -- its first since the 1971-72 season.
Senior Brett Sweeney added 11 points for Shore and hit the go-ahead three-pointer in overtime to make it 45-44. George then buried six free throws to close out the win. Senior Liam Gajewski also chipped in nine points with a pair of key second-half threes.
Senior Brian Farrell led Donovan Catholic with 16 points, including a game-tying floater with 1:10 left in the fourth quarter. Senior Dylan Espineli also pitched in eight points in the loss.
At Kean University
No. 2 St. Rose 64, Hudson Catholic 43
Junior Matt Hodge and sophomore Bryan Ebeling each scored 15 points and the Purple Roses rode a balanced offense with five players in double-figures to a win over the Hawks.
Hodge also added eight rebounds and four assists, while Ebeling had three assists and three steals to go with his scoring.
Junior Gio Panzini pitched in 12 points and eight rebounds, while freshman Jayden Hodge and sophomore Evan Romano each threw in 10 points for St. Rose.
Howell 48, Lacey 37
Senior Damien Padilla scored a team-high 15 points and became Howell's all-time leading rebounder as the Rebels beat the SCT-bound Lions.
Junior D.J. Orloff added 14 points for Howell, while senior Troy Buxton led Lacey with 16 points and seven rebounds.
Ranney 71, Matawan 61
Seniors Isaac Hester and Jahlil Bethea each scored 23 points and the Panthers pulled away from the Huskies in the fourth quarter. Hester also added nine rebounds and six assists, while Bethea hauled in seven rebounds.
No. 9 Freehold Twp. 79, Freehold Boro 57
Senior Jayden Holmes-Cotter put up 28 points and 14 rebounds and the Patriots beat the Colonials in the Jack Kuhnert Memorial Game for the third straight season.
Senior Malachi Harris poured in 21 points to go with five assists and four steals, while sophomore Nick Cardone contributed 10 points, three assists and two steals for Freehold Township. Senior James McCarthy also checked in with six points and eight rebounds in the win.
Junior Christian DiGiso led Freehold Boro with 15 points, while both junior Sam Cranwell and sophomore Brian Tassey scored 13 each.
No. 6 Jackson Memorial 71, Holmdel 43
Senior Charlie Meglio scored 17 points and pulled in nine rebounds as the Jaguars raced past the Hornets.
Senior Keith Adame added 16 points on 4-for-5 shooting from beyond the three-point line, while classmate Samir Padilla chipped in 13 points and three steals for Jackson Memorial. Senior Respect Tyleek also pitched in eight points and seven assists for the Jaguars.
Junior Nick Seeloch scored 12 points and classmate Ben Kipnis added 11 to lead Holmdel.
Wall 66, Long Branch 56
Senior Matt Eisenberg scored 19 points and sophomore Tom Eckberg added 16 to help the Crimson Knights topped the Green Wave.
Sophomore Demitri Tu chipped in 11 points and junior Bo Pepe threw in nine for Wall.
Junior Peter Da Cruz led Long Branch with 20 points, while seniors Bruce Gooding and Anubis Roman each added 11 in the loss.
No. 4 Middletown South 67, Manalapan 61
Senior Dylan Csik led four Middletown South players in double-figure scoring with 16 points and also handed out six assists as the Eagles outlasted the Braves for their 15th straight win.
Sophomore Brady Hahn added 15 points, senior Matt Sliva scored 12, and senior Pat Brown poured in 11 for Middletown South.
Senior Jake Heitzner led Manalapan with 14 points, while junior Zach Mangini added 13 in the loss.
Ocean 65, Middletown North 50
Sophomore Sayier Dean scored 21 points and classmate Ron Richardson added 18 to lead the Spartans to a win over the Lions.
Junior Keith Allen also pitched in 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists for Ocean, which clinched the outright Class C South title -- its first division championship in 51 years -- Thursday by virtue of Shore's win over Donovan Catholic.
Junior Jason Quardt led Middletown North with a career-high 30 points and classmate Luke Sheehan netted 14 in the loss.
No. 10 Colts Neck 41, Brick Memorial 40
Sophomore Vova Trotsko paved the way with 18 points and the Cougars prevailed with a road win over the Mustangs.
Junior Mike Belcher and senior Eric Lavin each added eight points, with Lavin inflicting all of his scoring damage in the second half.
Senior Dorian Alston led Brick Memorial with 16 points.
Barnegat 52, Toms River East 49
Sophomore Cole Toddings converted a tiebreaking three-point play with 5.1 seconds left and the Bengals won a thriller over the Raiders.
Junior Jamari Smith scored a team-high 15 points and found Toddings for the winning layup. Sophomore Mason Krey and junior Shawn Javines each pitched in 10 points for Barnegat.
Senior Dylan Russell led Toms River East with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while junior Steve Scorsone added 14 points and senior Manny Vargas handed out 10 assists in the loss.
Rumson-Fair Haven 57, St. John Vianney 51
Junior Nick Rigby scored 17 points and the Bulldogs battled past a desperate Lancers team making its last-ditch effort to clinch a Shore Conference Tournament berth.
Sophomore Luke Schorr added 14 points and senior Mason Yablonski poured in 10 for Rumson.
Senior Jordan Winnik also scored 17 points to lead St. John Vianney, with junior Deon Jackson adding 13 and senior Joe DeBlasio 11 in the loss.
Toms River South 59, Jackson Liberty 55
Junior Jordan Jones scored a game-high 19 points and the Indians edged the Lions after allowing 21 points and falling behind by eight points in the first quarter.
Junior Kai Barckley and sophomore Mark Avedano each added 10 points for Toms River South, which got the game tied up by the end of the third quarter.
Junior Dylan Teopaco led Jackson Liberty with 18 points, while junior Lukas Latvys chipped in 14 and sophomore Jayson King contributed 12 in the loss.
Henry Hudson 49, Academy for Urban Leadership 36
Sophomore Jack Fitzpatrick scored 21 points and senior Luke Jaccodine added 14 to lead the Admirals to a win over Urban Leadership Charter.
Watchung Hills 55, Asbury Park 35
Senior Davon Foster scored 24 points, but could not carry the the Blue Bishops to a road win over the Warriors with a spot in the SCT hanging in the balance.
