Gunman robs Lakewood gas station

A masked gunman is being sought by authorities after holding up the BP Gas Station on River Avenue in Lakewood Wednesday night, according to Township Police. 

The suspect rushed an attendant who was inside the kiosk around 8:40 pm, then fled on foot with $395.00, police said in a post on the department's Facebook page.

The gunman is described as a black man, standing about 6 foot tall, wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt, a white t-shirt, blue jeans and shiny black and white sneakers.

The Ocean County Sheriff's Department K9 Unit and the Crime Scene Investigations Unit are assisting with the investigation.
