Someone decided to send the Coast Guard out on a wild goose chase off the coast of Sandy Hook yesterday that cost $88,000 and a lot of time and effort for the brave people who guard and protect our shoreline.

There's a $3,000 reward being offered for anyone who comes forward with any information about the hoax.

The Coast Guard has also released the audio of the call.

Making a false distress call is a federal felony with a penalty of five to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and reimbursement for the cost of the search.

What do you think the penalty should be?
