This forthcoming monster roller coaster is most definitely aptly named a 'Skyscraper'.

According to gizmag.com, the coaster is set to open in 2016 as part of a larger entertainment complex named Skyplex that's due for completion in 2016, in Orlando, Florida.

The bad boy coaster rises 570 feet in the air is 5,200 ft long, and takes three minutes to complete while traveling at speeds of up to 65 mph.

Skyscraper is a new "Polercoaster" roller coaster, and will be the first of its kind built (a polercoaster consists of a large tower structure which features glass elevators to an observation deck, as well as an El Loco steel roller coaster wrapping around the tower).

The El Loco style coaster is designed with a vertical or beyond-vertical drop, and also features tight corners and abnormal banking.

Skyscraper will snake around Skyplex's large tower before looping and spiraling around the Skyplex complex.

Both Skyscraper and Skyplex will be built on Orlando's International Drive.

Skyplex will contain restaurants and retail spaces.

The tower will be central Florida's tallest structure when complete, and is scaled by a 55-story glass elevator ride.

When I next visit Orlando, I'll be enjoying the theme rides at Disney World that don't scare the hell out of me, thank you very much (although I have yet to try the 'Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith' and may have to succumb to it's allure or I will no longer be able to call myself a classic rock DJ). :-D

Will you try Skyscraper?
