Police were called to Joe's Crab Shack in Brick for a report of a female customer who was possibly using drugs in the bathroom.

Sgt. Erik Olsen, Patrolman Frank Mauro and Patrolman Dominic Puccio, who were working in an undercover capacity with the Selective Enforcement Team, arrived and were told a female customer had been in the bathroom for over more than 20 minutes possibly ingesting drugs while her food was sitting at her table getting cold. By the time police arrived, the woman had returned to the table and was able to speak with the officers.

While officers spoke with the woman, Puccio and restaurant management checked the bathroom and located numerous empty wax paper packets that had contained heroin in the stall that she allegedly had been in.

Lindsay Oconnell, 28, of Toms River, has been charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of hypodermic needles.

Officers speaking with Oconnell found that she had several drugs in her possession: 50 wax folds of heroin, four hypodermic needles, four clonazepam pills and 13 Xanax pills. She also had nine large white paper folds with white powder residue inside and a plastic container with an unknown brown substance inside. The powdery substances will be tested to determine what they contain.

The investigation revealed Oconnell had ingested heroin in the bathroom stall and discarded the used packages in the stall.

Oconnell was arrested and released with a summons after processing, he said.
