Three Dog Night had 21 hit singles on the Billboard Top 40 charts from 1969 through 1975.  Three of those songs going all the way to number one.  Many of the songs Three Dog Night recorded were from other songwriters, including their number one hit everybody knows, “Joy To The World”.

Before the formation of Three Dog Night, the band’s three singers, including current member Danny Hutton, were in another band called Redwood in Los Angeles, California. They were recording with Beach Boy, Brian Wilson.  They soon hired a few sessions musicians and changed their name to Three Dog Night.  Guitarist Michael Allsup was one of those musicians and remains the only other original member of the band today.

The band subsequently broke up in 1976 but then reformed in 1981.  Although their track record of hits has not put them into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, they were inducted into The Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2000. Three Dog Night is still actively touring and has played up to 80 gigs per year.

As the music industry rebounds from the pandemic stoppage, Three Dog Night is coming to the Jersey Shore.  Original members, Danny Hutton and Michael Allsup lead the band's new tour as they make a few stops in New Jersey.
