Why John Travolta & Kelly Preston Were in Ocean County

John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston were in our area over the weekend.

According to information on the website of our sister station, WOBM, John and Kelly were in Bay Head on Saturday for the dedication of Scientology Church Founder L. Ron Hubbard’s former home at 666 East Avenue, according to Borough Mayor William Curtis.

I have nothing against Scientologists, but since many consider it a 'cult', it might not be a great idea to have that address. :-D

“The Bay Head Historical Society awarded them {Scientologists} a plaque and an Outstanding Service to the Community because they restored the house to the way it was in 1949 and 1950,” said Curtis.

L. Ron Hubbard wrote the 1950 New York Times bestseller “Dianetics:The Modern Science of Mental Health” while living in Bay Head.

The home is open for tours as a Heritage site.
