Pests are a fact of life, and most of us just deal with the occasional spider crawling across a wall at home. But over the past few months, I feel like I've seen more "spider crickets" in my house than ever before. It turns out I'm not the only one.

As I was waiting for an appointment this morning, one of the receptionists at the office I was at spotted one of these long-legged creepers and mentioned how she's seen so many lately.

After chatting a bit, it actually made me feel better to know that I'm not the only one noticing them recently.

It turns out that the pests, officially called camel crickets, are actually an invasive species to the U.S. and have been spreading noticeably over the past few years.

This fall in particular, people seem to be seeing the unwelcome invaders in greater numbers than ever.

Thankfully, a quick web search brings up a wealth of information, including this handy article with some ways to keep the jumping jerks at bay.
