Niche.com used data from U.S. Census, FBI, BLS, CDC, and other sources to figure out what was the best place to raise a family in each state. Towns were ranked based on public schools, crime rates, cost of living, and family-friendly amenities.

According to their list, the best town in NJ for raising a family is Short Hills, in Essex County. Short Hills received an A+ in Schools, C- in Cost of Living, A+ in Family Amenities, B- in Real Estate, and B- in Diversity.

Niche released the list of the Top 100 towns in NJ, and ZERO were from Ocean County.  Four were from Monmouth County, six from Burlington. Bergen County had the most with 22 towns represented.

I think the most shocking thing was that going through the entire Top 100 list, the BEST score of any town when it came to 'Cost Of Living' was a C. Most of the towns landed in the C- or D+ range. It's just crazy that even the best towns in the state are absurdly expensive.
