Turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, corn, cranberry sauce...those are "Thanksgiving foods", right? The basics are there, and maybe your family adds in some stuffed shells or manicotti, maybe some ham, green bean casserole, peas, carrots, whatever.

What has never appeared on my Thanksgiving table, regardless of what family member was hosting, was CRAB CAKES.

According to this map, crab cakes were the most searched food item in New Jersey when it came to this time of year.

Now, the infographic says "most popular and unique" food traditions, so maybe they were just looking for something that NJ searches that other states don't...but that logic falls apart when you see Illinois with "mashed potatoes" or Idaho with "biscuits".

Have you ever had crab cakes at Thanksgiving? Nothing against crab cakes, but on Thanksgiving Day, I'll pass.
