A website compiled Google searches across the country to find out each state's favorite horror movie villain.

The results are...frustrating, I guess?

First of all, just because someone is Googling a subject doesn't mean they're a fan - so just searching "Dracula" might mean I'm looking for a picture or a bit of trivia or whatever. But ignoring that and just embracing the search data, it's still a ridiculous list.

Leading the villain list with 13 states is Norman Bates. I am a huge Hitchcock fan, but I find it hard to believe that a villain from a movie from 1960 is being searched that often. Nothing against Norman, he's a fantastic villain, it just strikes me as odd.

New Jersey's most-searched baddie? Frankenstein's monster. A classic to be sure, but how many people are actually heading to Google for this information?

Frankenstein's monster is actually the 3rd-most searched villain. Landing at #2? Chucky. Fine, whatever.

Rounding out the list are the xenomorph from Alien, The Shining's Jack Torrance, Count Dracula, Hannibal Lecter, Pinhead, and Pennywise. Carrying one state each are: Ghostface from Scream, David Kessler, Leatherface, Freddie Kreuger, Michael Myers, and Jason Voorhees.

What the hell is going on in Maine? I had to Google "David Kessler" myself to find out who that was, and all the results were some author who specializes in grief counseling.Turns out that was the name of the character from "An American Werewolf in London" - why are so many Mainers are looking him up?

Also, make up your damn mind West Virginia - a 7-way tie is BS.

This whole thing made me irrationally angry. Anyway, who is your favorite horror movie villain?
