Radar has suggested a few snowflakes and a bit of freezing drizzle have crossed Sussex County so far Thursday morning, as temperatures hovered right around the magical 32 degree mark. That's pretty much the extent of Thursday's taste of wintry weather, and close to the going forecast - not a big deal, just a few slick spots in far North Jersey. A Freezing Rain Advsiory continues until 11 a.m. - as temperatures rise, any remaining wintry mix will changeover to all rain by mid-morning.

For the rest of the state and the rest of the day, your forecast for Thursday looks pretty wet. Light rain will stream through northern and central New Jersey from mid-morning through mid-afternoon. A push of steadier, heavier rain is expected across the entire state from late afternoon (around 4 p.m.) through Thursday night. Overall rainfall totals will range from a few tenths of an inch in South Jersey, to potentially over an inch in North Jersey.

When it's not raining, Thursday will be cloudy and breezy. Highs will range from around 50 degrees in North Jersey to near 60 degrees in South Jersey.

The culprit for the late-day heavier rain band will be an approaching cold front. As that front passes, drier air will put a quick end to any remaining rain - probably around 2 a.m. (give or take). Skies will then start to clear overnight, with a continuing breeze. Low temperatures will fall to the mid 40s - above freezing.

Dry weather resumes Friday, with skies becoming mostly sunny. Our new air mass will kick up northwesterly wind gusts to 30 mph, limiting high temperatures to the mid 50s.

And, after a chilly last full week of October, chances are increasing for a warmer last weekend of October. Saturday's forecast highs range from 62 to 68 degrees, from north to south, with a mix of sun and clouds and a fresh southwesterly breeze. The forecast for Sunday has been low confidence all week - the current outlook calls for a high near 70 degrees. But a clipper system could cause a shower to popup during the day, with a brief period of steadier rain Sunday night.

Halloween is still looking good, even though we'll be turning cooler again. Skies will be fair, winds will be light, and temperatures seasonably cool in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees.
