In a message on the borough web page, borough officials predict impassable roads Saturday in the high-risk zone, through the combination of blizzard conditions and coastal flooding. They suggest returning no earlier than Sunday midday.

Residents are being urged to shut off utilities and ensure that elderly, special-needs persons, pets and vehicles are all on the go list, saying that emergency services might not be able to reach some areas for extended periods Saturday.

Officials recommend rooming with family members or friends, though the borough has arranged with the local ministerium for shelter and a warming station. Bring required medicines, non-perishable foods, and bedding needs such as sleeping bags and pillows. Pets should be lodged somewhere other than the shelter.

.Residents requesting shelter services should contact Manasquan Police at (732) 223-1000.
