They call this little pup Vinnie, a nickname for Van Gogh, and he's doing very well thanks to the kind and dedicated staff of Popcorn Park Shelter in Forked River.

In case you don't know the story of Vinnie, here it is from the Associated Humane Popcorn Park Shelter facebook page, written February 1st:

Van Gogh was the victim of the most horrendous cruelty that a human being could inflict upon an innocent animal. His injuries, age, body condition, etc., are all consistent of those of a "bait dog", meaning he was used by a dog-fighter as bait.

Since he is only 4 to 5 months old and very malnourished, he could have been in training to fight, but it is more likely that he was bait. He has sustained unthinkable injuries to his little body and we are unsure if he will survive this horrible ordeal, but we are doing absolutely everything we can to get him well and ask for you to keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

This little guy is obviously doing remarkably well a mere week later, and the staff had this to say in the description of the video above:

No words are even needed for this update, except this: keep up the praying and good thoughts for our little Vinnie. It's obviously working!!
