Brick Township officials have closed certain points of the Brick Beach system after Tropical Storm Hermine exposed part of the steel revetment wall.

Brick Police Captain Vincent Pacitti released a statement

...the access points to the ocean beaches south of Brick Beach 3 will be closed due to current existing conditions caused by the recent Tropical Storm Hermine."

The heavy winds and rough surf caused by Hermine led to beach erosion and unsafe conditions along the steel revetment wall.

Access to the beaches will be available at Brick Beach I, Brick Beach 3 and at 6th Avenue in the Normandy Beach section of the township.

The town currently has front-end loaders and other heavy equipment working to resecure the unsafe areas, and warns beachgoers to use caution, be aware, and keep away from the construction vehicles.

Pacitti also said to be careful around high tide because the waves are reaching the steel wall.
