It's been a wet few days around here, and it got me thinking about my favorite "rain" songs. It was hard to narrow down to just five, some good songs didn't make the cut.

5

The Doors "Riders on the Storm"

Perfect song to start the list, complete with rain and thunder sound effects.

4

Bob Dylan "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35"

Everybody must get stoned, and on days like this sometimes there isn't much else to do.

3

Eric Clapton "Let It Rain"

A real masterpiece from Clapton, every piece of instrumentation (vocals, guitar, bass, drums) is flawless.

2

The Beatles "Rain"

A great example of pre-Revolver experimentation from the Beatles, lots of aural exploration and backwards vocals.

1

Led Zeppelin "The Rain Song"

Supposedly, George Harrison commented to John Bonham that Zeppelin never did any ballads. This song was Zep's response.
