Things are getting crazy in the world once again. Russia is looking like they will be using military force and invading Ukraine. The United States is totally against what Russia is doing. In a nutshell....This could be very bad! Seems very "cold-war ish".

It got me thinking that back in the 80's and throughout movie history, there have been some GREAT movies that dealt with USA vs Russia.

Here are my top 5 movies:

  • 5

    The Day After

This was a made for TV movie that gave a chilling tale of what an actual nuclear war between US and Russia would be like

  • 4

    From Russia with Love

James Bond (Sean Connery) willingly falls into an assassination ploy involving a naive Russian beauty in order to retrieve a Soviet encryption device that was stolen by SPECTRE.

  • 3

    Firefox

A Former United States Air Force Major Mitchell Gant, a Vietnam veteran and former POW, infiltrates the Soviet Union, aided by his ability to speak Russian (due to his having had a Russian mother) and a network of Jewish dissidents and sympathizers, three of whom are key scientists working on the fighter itself. His goal is to steal the Firefox and fly it back to friendly territory for analysis.

  • 2

    Top Gun

Do you feel "the need for speed"?  Maverick has to fight off the Russians while soul searching over the death of his father and Goose

    Rocky IV

Rocky vs Ivan Drago!  It doesn't get more USA vs Russia than this. Tensions were high until Rocky "changed" the Russians views with a post boxing match speech.

"During this fight, I've seen a lot of changing, in the way you feel about me, and in the way I feel about you. In here, there were two guys killing each other, but I guess that's better than twenty million. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that if I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!"
