It was Room 18 of the Sun and Sand Motel on Route 37 in Toms River police found was the center for heroin and cocaine dealing on May 13, 2014 and a township resident allegedly responsible was found guilty of the crime on Wednesday.

Damian Arena, 38, of Toms River and Jodi McConnon of Seaside Heights were allegedly dealing cocaine and heroin out of their motel room that day and stored their stash inside of a 2011 Buick Regal.

Around 12:15 pm that day Arena and McConnon got into the Buick, left the motel and drove to the Shell Gas Station between Route 37 and Fisher Boulevard in Toms River.

Police conducted a motor vehicle stop that day where they found both of them and additionally executed a search warrant of his Poe Avenue home, the Buick and the motel room.

As a result the Buick was taken into evidence along with about 170-individual dose units of heroin and under one half ounce of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, specifically several glass crack (cocaine) smoking pipes.

Both were arrested and brought to Toms River Police Department headquarters.

Arena was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and has been in the Ocean County Jail ever since his arrest.
