The Beatles - Rooftop Concert (London Original... by STARDUST72
This morning on my way to work, not thinking that it was January 30th, I couldn't get "Dig a Pony" out of my head and I also kept hearing the tune, "Two of Us"....

Then when I got to work, I was reminded that it was a cold day on January 30, 1969 that The Beatles gathered on the top of the Apple Records building in London and gave us 42 minutes of music in their final public appearance before the police shut them down.

Footage from the performance was later used in the 1970 documentary film Let It Be.

That was the film that documented exactly how each member of the band was distinctly unwilling to simply "let it be", and in fact a few hitmen were hired but later called off. :-D

The concert ended with "Get Back", and John Lennon's infamous quip, "I'd like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we've passed the audition."

John had the best lines. :-)

Hope you enjoy going back in time or simply experiencing a classic moment in rock music history--one that still leaves me breathless.
