Six months ago, everyone was talking about "The Watcher" house in Westfield. In case you don't remember the details, here's the quick and dirty: a family buys a beautiful house for $1.3mil in 2014. The family immediately began receiving letters saying

My grandfather watched the house in the 1920s and my father watched in the 1960s. It is now my time."

and

Have they found what is in the walls yet? In time they will."

and

I am pleased to know your names and the names now of the young blood you have brought to me."

and

Will the young bloods play in the basement. Who has the bedrooms facing the street? I'll know as soon as you move in. It will help me to know who is in which bedroom then I can plan better."

and

All the windows and door in (the house) allow me to watch you and track you as you move through the house. I am in charge of (the house)."

AH HOLY CRAP I got chills just re-reading those. Whether or not it's legit or just some guy pulling a bizarre prank, it's still the sort of thing that is going to terrify a family with children moving into a new house.

The latest update involves the owners applying for permission to demolish the home and replace it with two new ones. When they bought the house in 2014, Derek and Maria Broaddus initially tried to resell it after the receiving the letters. When the publicity around the house proved the house to be toxic on the market, they tried to sue the previous owners for non-disclosure. They hope tearing the house down will cause The Watcher to give up their obsession.

I'm really hoping the town approves the demolition, simply so my morbid curiosity can be satisfied and we can finally find out what is in the walls. It will either be nothing, proving the whole thing to be a twisted hoax and actually make me feel worse that this family went through all of that for nothing; OR there will be some unspeakable horror hidden in the walls and I'll never sleep again.
