Earlier this year, we shared stories of shock and sadness after reports that the iconic Circus Drive-In on Route 35 in Wall was up for sale.

Despite a Facebook group dedicated to saving the Circus and an online petition with over 2,000 supporters, it was announced that a potential buyer has plans to redevelop the property with the restaurant.

Now, News12's Jim Murdoch took to Facebook to confirm the sale of the property.

In case you can't read that, it says that the Circus is sold and will likely not be a restaurant. Interestingly, Murdoch says the iconic clown sign is likely to remain, while other relics and artifacts will probably be auctioned off.

I'm surprised that the sign would stay up. I'm sure the new owners will build a small strip mall and call it the "Circus Plaza" and say they're doing it to honor the history of the location, but that seems like pandering.
