So many donuts, so little (gym) time. Long after National Donut Day is over, these New Jersey shops still will be churning out some amazing, tasty creations. If you're looking for a specific foodie trail to start on, look no further than this list. From classic glaze and jelly filled, to some creative calorie jackpots, Jersey has 'em.

Good ahead and indulge. I won't judge.

The wonderful smell wafting from this Toms River donut shop is enough to make you a frequent visitor. Uncle Dood's changes up their menu on a regular basis, though there's the classic "Beach Sand" cinnamon sugar to entice you.

Fruity Pebbles as a topping is a delicious Dood's trademark. They're on the "Bert" donut these days, along with cherry icing.

As my friend Nick wrote before devouring this, "Behold the Italian Rainbow Donut." This creation is from Glaze Donuts, which has three North Jersey shops.

L & M Bakery
Riverside

L & M Bakery is another long-time favorite in south Jersey.  The family-owned and operated bakery in Burlington County has been serving customers for over 50 years.

Among its newest donut offerings is the peanut butter cup. (I'd also be quick to scarf down a fresh strawberry frosted!)

Beignets
Denville

This shop has lots for your sweet tooth — such as a chocolate glazed donut, filled with cannoli cream!

The Denville favorite also offers cookie donut hybrids like Samoas and Girl Scout Thin Mint donuts. They're topped with the real deal: crushed cookies from the scouts! And if you're feeling creative, you can tailor your own from their glaze and toppings menu.

Donut purists can rejoice in the treasures at this family owned Central Jersey landmark. Mendoker's Bakery has been in the biz since 1932, so they know their way around a classic jelly, or these lemon-filled donut creations.

No kidding, "deluxe"! Take a look at the cut cream donuts! This family-run bakery in Runnemede is another veteran on the scene. Not to be missed.

This ultra-favorite Ocean County shop has unveiled the “Cronella” for National Donut Day. It's a croissant with Nutella filling and lots of powdered sugar. And yes, it's delicious.

Let me lead the campaign for this to be added to the menu for longer at the Toms River spot, for more chances to devour one.

DoCo Donuts
Farmingdale

DoCo the Donut & Coffee Company is another must-visit for some amazing creations, like bacon chocolate donuts. The Monmouth County shop offers a distinctive way to celebrate big occasions: custom donut cakes!

Shore Good Donuts
LBI- Ship Bottom and Beach Haven

Shore Good Donuts lives up to its name, as a favorite among visitors and locals on LBI. Two spots offer made-to-order goodies, in Beach Haven and Ship Bottom.

Aside from all the toppings you could want, one specialty donut for beach lovers is the Pina Colada.

The Montclair Bread Company bills itself as "a family-owned bread bakery with a doughnut addiction."

A main question is where to start eating your way through the menu, and this ballgame themed creation seems like a good place. It offers a "lager glaze" topped with peanuts, crackerjacks and caramel drizzle.

South Jersey has a year-round favorite in Salem County's family run Four Seasons Donuts.  Chocolate peanut seems to be a crowd pleaser. So does the blueberry creation.

Purple Glaze
Asbury Park

This newer donut shop is making waves in Asbury Park. Among Purple Glaze's offerings is "Berries & Cream," a vanilla donut drizzled with vanilla icing, filled with bavarian cream, blueberry compote and fresh strawberries.

Browns Donuts
Ocean City

Brown's in Ocean City is dubbed the "almost famous" donut shop. Among their classic offerings, I'd start with a "honey donut"... or three.

Top That Donuts
Pt. Pleasant Beach

There's no shortage of yummy donut shops along the Shore. Another must-visit is Top That Donuts in Pt. Pleasant Beach. Among the offerings, the twist on a "PB&J,"  a vanilla powdered sugar donut, filled with black raspberry jelly and topped with peanut butter chips and peanut butter glaze.

They even stay open late on Thursdays during the summer, for the fireworks crowd!

Small shop but big taste from this Union County donut favorite. The Plainfield Donut Shop is an easy trip off Route 22 onto Watchung Avenue. The coconut glazed looks *really* tasty!

Cider donuts: yum! For many, the craving hits its peak in the fall, along with fresh cider and apple picking. But at D.O. they are a year-round treat.

And here's three more NJ spots to map on your NJ Donut Trail:

Terhune Orchards — Princeton — more yummy cider donuts.

Fractured Prune — Ocean City — an independent, "legacy" store of the Fractured franchise.

Jack's Donuts — Laurel Springs — small shop offers tasty classics like glazed & cream.
