Thanksgiving Day in New Jersey offers an array of options if you decide to venture out. Whether you're looking to get an early jump on holiday shopping or you just have to run out to the grocery store, here's what's open and what's closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Grocery Stores

  • Shop & Stop – Stores close at 5 p.m.
  • Shop Rite – Hours vary. For example, Old Bridge is closing at 3:00 p.m., while locations in Millburn, and Flemington will be closed.
  • Walmart – 24/7 hour stores will be open.
  • K Mart – 6:00 a.m. to midnight.
  • Target – Most stores will open at 6:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving for Black Friday sales.
  • Costco - Closed
  • Sam’s Club - Closed
  • BJ’s - Closed
  • Petco - Closed

Convenience Stores

  • QuikChek – Open normal hours
  • 7 Eleven – Open 24/7
  • WaWa – Open 24/7

 Drugstores

  • CVS – 24/7 hour locations will remain open at regular hours
  • Rite Aid – 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Walgreens – Most stores will be open from 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Hospital Visiting Hours

  • Morristown Medical Center Urgent Care at Hackettstown -  8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • Memorial Hospital of Salem County - 11:00 a.m. 8:30 p.m.
  • Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital - General visiting hours are 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at  the Somerset Campus, and 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the New Brunswick Campus.
  • St. Peter's Healthcare System - 24/7, given the patient isn't in the ICU.

Urgent Care Centers

Appliance and Auto Parts Stores

  • Home Depot - Closed
  • Lowes - Closed
  • Sears - 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Black Friday, then open again at 6 a.m. on Black Friday.
  • Best Buy - Most stores will open at 5 p.m. for early Black Friday deals.
  • Staples - Closed
  • Advanced Auto Parts - Closed
  • NAPA Auto Parts - Closed
  • Pep Boys - Closed
  • STS Tire - Closed

Coffee Shops

  • Starbucks - stores close by 4 p.m.
  • Dunkin Donuts - Majority of locations will close around 5:00 p.m.

Shipping Services

  • USPS - Closed
  • UPS - Closed
  • FedEx - Closed

Fast Food Chains

  • Subway - Some locations will be closed, others will be open from 9 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Best to check with your closest location.
  • Boston Market – 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. for pickup orders, and 11:00 a.m. – 5 p.m. for walk-ins. Keep in mind that Thanksgiving is their busiest day of the year, so you'll see a line if you’re walking in.
  • McDonald's – Open 24/7
  • TacoBell – Most locations will be closed.
