Today was the opening ceremony for Ed Jarrett's attempt to break his own Guinness Record for the World's Tallest Sandcastle, being built outside Jenkinson's Aquarium in Point Pleasant. The weather got in the way, but I still got some good pictures!
In another sign of a turn toward normalcy, amusement rides will start spinning this weekend at some parks and piers along the Sandy-battered New Jersey shore even as work continues to repair damage to buildings, boardwalks and other attractions.
Construction on the 12.5 mile stretch of Route 35 through Ocean County will be done with every effort to not inconvenience drivers too much. But Joe Dee, spokesman for the New Jersey Department of Transportation reminds drivers this won't be a "normal summer."
