In an advisory issued by the National Weather Service, the storm will linger over New Jersey and the mid-Atlantic states starting Wednesday and lasting into at least Thursday.

A Coastal Flood Advisory has been issued for Atlantic, Cumberland, Cape May and southern Burlington counties. Gale force winds out of the northeast will cause 6-8 foot waves with minor to moderate beach erosion during high tide mostly in the southern coastal area.

Rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches are expected across the state with the heaviest amounts falling closest to the coast.

Heavy surf and rip currents will continue through the weekend.

The stormy weather had resulted in power outages for about 6,700 customers of Jersey Central Power & Light. Early Tuesday, power had been restored to most according to the utility’s outage map on Tuesday morning at 5 a.m.  Public Service Electric & Gas also restored most customers on Tueday.

The National Weather Service canceled a Tornado Watch for all of New Jersey around 4 p.m. Monday after no twisters developed as a strong line of thunderstorms moved across the state causing the worst damage across north Jersey. Minor tidal flooding was reported yesterday afternoon in the Green Island section of Toms River and the Shore Acres section of Brick.

Accuweather reports that a funnel cloud was spotted over Trenton and Michigan Avenues in Paterson around 3:15 p.m. according to the Star Ledger.
