Ever since The Sopranos cut to black mid-sentence, fans have been talking about the possibility of a movie.

New Line Cinema has picked up a screenplay from Sopranos creator David Chase, titled "The Many Saints of Newark."  The movie will be set around the Newark riots of the 1960s.

It's not certain which characters from the original show will appear in the prequel, but the timeframe suggests the story would revolve around Tony's parents, Giovanni and Livia, and possibly Uncle Junior.

Social media gave us some mixed reactions:

Am I the only one who doesn't really get the appeal? The Sopranos was an hour-long drama - making it a movie basically just means watching two episodes back-to-back. It was an HBO show, so cursing and nudity and violence were already allowed, it's not like suddenly making a movie will allow the creators to push boundaries or do a "gritty reboot".

Maybe it's just me - are you excited for more Sopranos?
