Lifeguards spotted an injured dolphin swimming in the area of Beach Haven, apparently having been struck by a boat propeller.

Two to three sharks picked up the scent, and took advantage of the dolphin's weakened state.

Real Brigantine said the attack took place approximately 50 feet offshore, and the waters were cleared of swimmers.

A video was shared on Facebook by Kristen Kelly (nothing graphic, the feeding took place just far enough away, but you still get the impact of what was happening):

I have visited Long Beach Island, NJ with my family every summer since I was little and today, I saw a something that would be considered a fish tale (pun intended) if I didn’t have this as evidence! This poor dolphin was hit by a boat propeller and three MASSIVE sharks ate it where we were swimming all day today… Needless to say, I am happy to be going home tomorrow 😳
