Two serious accidents ended the weekend for those heading home from the Jersey Shore leaving one person dead and more than a dozen people injured.

The Garden State Parkway northbound was slow for several miles approaching Exit 116 (PNC Bank Arts Center) due to an accident involving several vehicles in the local lanes including one overturned according to Jersey Shore Hurricane News.

Seven were injured in the accident according to the LakewoodScoop.com on its Facebook page.

New Jersey Fast Traffic reports the accident cleared and all lanes open at 10:40 p.m.

There is also an accident at #127 for Route 9 in Woodbridge causing slow traffic across the Driscoll Bridge according to New Jersey Fast Traffic that has also been cleared.

Second Serious Crash

One person is dead and six injured in a crash on Route 539 in Manchester around 8 p.m. on Sunday night according to the Ocean Signal.

Route 539 was closed for much of the night between Route 72 in Barnegat and Harry Wright Boulevard in Manchester as police conducted an investigation.

The Ocean County Police, Fire & EMS Facebook page reports that a medical helicopter was brought to the scene. One patient was reported in critical condition and another suffered head trauma.  One victim was flown to Jersey Shore Medical Center and another transported to Community Medical Center; that woman  was pronounced dead at CMC  according to the  Ocean Signal.
