This weekend in Seaside Heights, is the "Gentlemen of the Road" music festival Starring  the Flaming Lips, Alabama Shakes, and Mumford and Sons headlining. It takes place Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, with officials expecting 30,000-75,000 people in attendance. Click "READ MORE"  for everything you need to know about Seaside Heights this weekend

  • The beach is already closed, and stays that way through Sunday. The only ones on it are campers with festival tickets.
  • The boardwalk, south of Casino Pier, is closed between 3 and 11 PM, Friday and Saturday. AFTER 11p, THE BOARDWALK IS OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
  • The boardwalk, north of Casino Pier, remains accessible throughout the festival.
  • The second stage, at Ocean Terrace, stays accessible throughout the festival, and opens at 5 PM today, and again at 11 AM Friday and Saturday. It features entertainers, the NJ Mobile Hall of Fame, merchandise and collectibles, etc.
  • Parking spaces anywhere near it will be practically impossible to find. Festival ticket holders have access to shuttle buses that travel from Toms River Intermediate North, High Schools North and East, the Ocean County Administration Building garage, Ocean County College lot, and several other spots. There is information at http://www.gentlemenoftheroad.com.
  • Non-ticket holders, and people who actually just want to visit SSH, are likely to wind up parking in other towns on the barrier island.

The main stage is set up on the beach at Casino Pier, while there is a smaller stage set up on Ocean Terrace on the "Downtown Stage"

Needless to say, Seaside Heights will be quite chaotic all weekend, so if you do not have tickets to the concert, my advice is to STAY AWAY from Seaside Heights entirely this weekend.  You will NOT be allowed on the boardwalk at all between 3p-11p on Friday and Saturday night if you don't have a ticket to the festival.  AFTER 11p, THE BOARDWALK IS OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. Parking will be a mess, so your best bet is to make other plans this weekend

I took a ride through Seaside Heights earlier today to see how the setup is coming along
