SB Nation Names New Jersey’s Best College Football Team

Now that the College Football Championship is in the rearview mirror, SB Nation decided to name the best college football team in each state.

The college football scene isn't that big in NJ; really, only Rutgers has made noise on a national level. However, this year, (my alma mater) Monmouth University stole the crown.

Here's what SB Nation had to say:

New Jersey: Rather than giving Rutgers the nod at 4-8, let’s recognize the Monmouth Hawks for making the FCS playoffs and losing by 39 to UNI immediately.

So yeah, not exactly a glowing endorsement for the Hawks, but at least we're better than Rutgers! For the surrounding states, Army was the best program in New York, and the Nittany Lions were the best in Pennsylvania.
