Rutgers University is set to introduce Eddie Jordan as the new men's basketball coach toi replace fired coach Mike Rice.

The school's athletic department has scheduled a 4:30 p.m. news conference Tuesday the make the announcement. In a symbolic move, the announcement take place at The Barn,  the first home of the basketball team and where Jordan played with the Rutgers team between 1973 and 77 during which made the NCAA Final Four in 1976 according to the Star Ledger.

The Rutgers Board of Governors is expected to approve a five-year contract with Jordan today.

Rice was fired after a video showed him grabbing and throwing a ball at players, and uttering anti-gay slurs during practices across his three seasons.

The scandal also forced the resignation of former athletic director Tim Pernetti and two others.

Rutgers went 15-16 last season and five Scarlet Knights have asked to leave the program including leading scorer Eli Carter. The Star Ledger reports that three recruits for neext season have changed their minds about Rutgers.

Rutgers will join the Big Ten in 2014-15.
