Rolling Stones 2013 Tour Announcement Coming Soon
Tom Petty once sang, “The waiting is the hardest part.” Presumably, Petty was referring to nearly a year’s worth of teasing by the Rolling Stones on whether or not they would launch another full-scale tour. However, it would appear that we will only have to wait a few more days to learn all the information.
On Friday (March 29), the band posted a news item to their website that simply read, “5 Days & Counting…” with an embedded video of ‘Doom and Gloom.’ Breaking out our trusty calendar and moving five days forward from there, we can reasonably suspect that the tour announcement will come Wednesday, April 3, or we will be the recipients of the world’s most poorly timed April Fool’s Day prank.
The future announcement will come a week after the Stones confirmed their first concert of 2013, a headlining slot at the Glastonbury Festival on June 29. Earlier this month it was projected that they will play “fewer than 20 dates.” Last year, the band played five nights in London and the New York area — complete with numerous guest stars — as well as the 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy benefit concert.
While the dates are uncertain, one thing will be a given: attending the concerts won’t come cheap. Tickets for their 2012 shows ranged from $170 up to $1,836 for the VIP packages. Upon hearing the numbers, guitarist Keith Richards said, “I’m a bit out of the loop with showbiz — I just want to do some shows and I don’t want to charge over the bloody top.”
