Remembering Warren Zevon
Warren would have turned 66 today. He was born January 24, 1947 in Chicago and died on September 7, 2003 at age 56 of cancer.
An excitable boy who fantasized about werewolves roaming London-town and obsessed when in a tight situation about the need for lawyers, guns and...(you know the rest), Zevon had that bizarre imagination that saw the world in a darkly comic way with his signature skeptical humor.
Above is the last song he wrote before he died, "Keep Me in Your Heart", from his final album, "The Wind". What it lacks in humor is instead filled with soul, as he bids farewell to the ones he loved and was loved by.
I don't know about you, but I wouldn't mind having it played at my funeral. How about you?
By the way, this month marks the 35th anniversary of the release of his third album, "Excitable Boy", the best-selling album of his career, which came out on January 18, 1978.
