Ravi Shankar, Famed Sitar Player, Dead at 92
Indian sitar player Ravi Shankar is dead at the age of 92.
Acorrding to an announcement on his website, Shankar died in San Diego surrounded by family.
Shankar is notable for his work with the Beatles, specifically with George Harrison, and is known for bringing Indian music into popular western culture. He won three Grammy Awards in his lifetime and was the only artist to be paid for appearing at 1969’s Woodstock Festival.
Shankar is the father of popular singer Norah Jones.
