Prepare for the “Sandy Tax”

You must have seen this coming, right?

It’s the burden that mainland Monmouth and Ocean County residents may well have to shoulder to make up for all the lost tax revenue due to Sandy.

According to an online article from The Asbury Park Press, Ocean County Republican Freeholder John C. Barlett Jr. said residents living away from the water and not affected by the superstorm will have to pick up a larger share of the tax burden than those at the coast because those towns lost a big part of their tax base.

The money will come in the form of higher property taxes.

What do you think of this plan? Is it fair or not?
