Following in the footsteps of towns like Harvey Cedars and Long Beach Township, Point Pleasant Beach added their name to the list of Jersey Shore towns that have banned plastic bags.

Long Beach's ban went into effect last week. Point Pleasant business have been told they don't need to immediately eliminate plastic bags; instead they should use up the bags they have left before shifting to paper and other reusable bags.

PPB has also purchased 1,000 reusable canvas bags to give residents to make the transition easier.
